A long-time member of the absentee list at La Liga giants Real Madrid is inching towards a return to competitive duties on the pitch.
That’s according to Diario AS, who highlight Ferland Mendy as the player in question.
Stopper Mendy is for his part condemned to yet another spell on the sidelines at present. After limping out of a La Liga meeting with Espanyol back in May, the Frenchman was confirmed to have suffered ‘a tendon injury in the rectus femoris of his right leg’.
Mendy, as a result, was forced back under the knife, yet to return to group activities at Valdebebas as of this week.
But as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then the light appears to be at the end of the tunnel for the 31-year-old….
As per a report from Diario AS, though he will need some time to regain match sharpness:
‘The French full-back is making great strides towards returning to training with his teammates. He is close to being medically cleared.’
