Liverpool consider making a move for Frenkie de Jong

Liverpool are contemplating whether to make an offer to sign Frenkie de Jong, report Mundo Deportivo.

With less than a week to go until the summer transfer window closes, Barcelona are desperate to lower their wage bill in order to register all their new signings, including Jules Koundé.

The Blaugrana have been trying to offload De Jong throughout this summer or negotiate a reduction of his salary, without much success.

Having only picked up two points in their opening three games of the season, Liverpool are looking to strengthen their midfield.

It is believed that the club are set to table an offer just shy of €65m, which is far below Barcelona’s €80m price tag.

Earlier this week it was communicated that Bayern Munich are also interested in securing the services of the Dutchman and would like to negotiate a loan deal with the option to buy the midfielder permanently.

It appears as though the De Jong saga will continue until the very end of the transfer window.
