Las Palmas’ trip to Sevilla couldn’t have got off to a worse start. The team from Gran Canaria, who take on Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday, was travelling to Seville on Saturday afternoon.
According to AS via journalist Francis Matas of Cadena SER Las Palmas, 15 Las Palmas players and two physiotherapists, taking advantage of the announced delay for their flight, went to a café inside Gran Canaria airport to hang out. When the group of players and staff finally went to catch the plane, they were refused entry as take-off was imminent.
Las Palmas head coach García Pimienta was on the plane, which was about to leave for Madrid before going to Seville. Those who remained on the ground had to take a later flight from the Canary Islands and go directly to Seville thanks to a chartered flight that was organised soon after.
