Lamine Yamal broke a Mesut Özil record in Barcelona 4-1 Galatasaray

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal secured for himself yet another individual record on Tuesday night. This came courtesy of his creative exploits in the Blaugrana’s meeting with Galatasaray.

Hansi Flick’s troops are of course fresh off keeping alive and well their spectacular opening to the new season.

After making the trip to Istanbul to kick the club’s Champions League campaign back into gear in a meeting with Galatasaray, the Spanish champions emerged on the right side of a 4-1 result.

The aforementioned Lamine proved himself the star of the show, laying on a pair of sumptuous assists amid another stellar all-round performance.

And as alluded to above, in the process, the Spanish international continued to etch his name into the history books of European football. As per a report from statisticians Opta:

‘Lamine Yamal is the youngest player to assist multiple goals in consecutive UEFA Champions League appearances (19 years, 92 days).

‘He is three years younger than the next youngest player to achieve this – Mesut Özil in 2011, aged 22.’
