Karim Benzema registers as a Madrid resident

Karim Benzema has registered himself as a resident of the city of Madrid, report Relevo.

Despite playing for Los Blancos for the past 14 years, the Frenchman has not been able to register (empadronarse) as a resident of Madrid as he lives in a property in Ciudadalcampo, which is located in the municipality of San Sebastián de los Reyes.

However, Benzema has purchased a second property within the boundaries of the Spanish capital in order to become a resident of the city. This means that the 35-year-old will be able to enjoy the rights of all other Madrileños, including the ability to vote in the Madrid mayoral elections and use its public services.

Benzema feels very much at home in the city and many believe that this is another sign that the Ballon d’Or winner will retire from Real Madrid and will continue living in the Spanish capital after his professional playing career.
