Juventus’ Moise Kean speaks out on failed Atlético Madrid move for first time

Juventus star Moise Kean has this weekend provided an insight into the disappointment he felt, after seeing a winter move to La Liga with Atlético Madrid collapse at the final hurdle.

The name of frontman Kean, of course, took its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital through the month of January.

As much came amid widespread confirmation that the Italian international had been identified as a leading target on the part of the aforementioned Atlético.

As Ángel Correa inched towards a move to the riches of the Saudi Pro League, Kean was sought out as his replacement by Diego Simeone.

Just when it looked as though the transfer was set to be announced, however, the process fell apart.

This came after a pre-existing injury on the part of the striker was discovered to be worse than first thought.

And, as alluded to above, this weekend, Kean has spoken publicly for the very first time regarding the extent of the toll his failed move to Madrid initially took on him.

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, as cited by Diario AS, the 24-year-old admitted that he initially felt as though he had ‘let his family down’:

“It was very hard. For a moment I felt disappointed. I was with my mother and my family and I felt like I had let them down.”

Some choice words from his mother, though, soon saw Kean freshly motivated for the remainder of the season in Turin:

“But, my mother made me understand that life didn’t stop there. I have to move on, I’m a grown man and I have to assume my responsibilities and work hard.”
