Jules Koundé gave his first press conference as a Barcelona player, as communicated by Mundo Deportivo.
The Blaugrana paid Sevilla €50 million to sign the French defender who spoke about his ambitions and how he sees his future at the side:
“I am very happy and proud. I’m coming to a big and ambitious club, and I’m also coming with ambition. We are going to go for the top.”
He also revealed that Xavi played a bring role in brining him to Barcelona:
“I’ve always felt the affection of the coach, who really wanted me to come. That was key because this is a very important stage of my career. He asked me to keep doing what I was doing in Sevilla – be aggressive, play the ball out from the back and be committed. I know I am coming to a big and demanding club.”
Koundé also revealed his thoughts about the competition he will be facing to become a regular starter:
“There is a lot of competition. This is very good for the team. There are a lot of games too. The coach will decide, it doesn’t worry me. I have to grow here, I’m still young, and help the team at every opportunity. I’m looking forward to it.”
