Jorge Sampaoli has already told Sevilla he wants to become the club’s next manager, according to Relevo.
The Argentinian head coach is ready to travel to the Andalusian capital on Thursday to return to the club he managed from 2016 to 2017.
Current Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui will attend today’s press conference and be on the bench against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League tomorrow, but Sampaoli could be confirmed as the club’s new manager by the end of the week.
Sevilla have only managed to pick up five points from a possible 21 in La Liga this season and sit in 17th place.
According to Marca, Sevilla club directors are very clear that the change must come as soon as possible and that the arrival of the new coach must not happen later than this week.
Sevilla’s next league game is against the in-form Athletic Club. A change on the bench has been expected since Atlético Madrid defeated Lopetegui’s side 2-0 on Saturday.
