Last night Sevilla defeated Mallorca 1-0 in the ninth round of La Liga.
This was Jorge Sampaoli’s first win at the helm of the Andalucían side since he took over from Julen Lopetegui. In a post-match interview that appeared on Marca, he discussed the importance of this victory:
“Emotions are high because the team comes out of an uncomfortable situation. We won a game, but we lacked strength in attack.”
“In football there are many things to improve, but building from happiness is not the same as doing it from some kind of depression. There are things to correct, to improve. We are trying to move forward. We had a positive result against an opponent that made it very difficult for Barcelona and Real Madrid. We have a lot of respect for them,” he added.
The Argentine coach revealed what will be his next objective at the club:
“The aim is to improve at the back and to continue to creating chances in front of goal.”
