Joaquín has made his 500th appearance in a Real Betis shirt, note Mundo Deportivo.
The 41-year-old made his debut for the senior side in 2000 and played at Real Betis until 2006. Following stints at Valencia, Málaga and Fiorentina, he returned to Los Verdiblancos in 2015.
He reached the feat in Real Betis’ match against HJK Helsinki in their first Europa League match of the season, which they won 2-0 thanks to a brace by Willian José.
To mark the occasion, Joaquín wore a special shirt with a captain’s armband that had the names of all 18 players who have played 500 games for the Andalucían side.
In his 500 appearances for the club over two spells, he scored 65 goals and won 191 games. He won the Copa del Rey with Real Betis in 2005 and 2022.
This was Joaquín’s 944th professional football match when considering all international and club competitions.
