On Sunday night, as Real Betis celebrated their Copa del Rey success, legendary club captain Joaquín confirmed his decision to play with the club for another season.
“I don’t know if I’m going to spoil a plan I have, but I’m very sorry… I’m going to carry on for another year,” he said.
At the age of 40, Joaquín played an important role in the club winning its third Copa del Rey title. Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini added: “It’s a great joy because he is a captain who shows that he deserves to stay because of the work he does in every training session and his performances”.
On Sunday, Joaquín became the only player in the club’s history to win two titles and he’s not finished yet.
