João Félix was overruled by İlkay Gündoğan for Barcelona penalty vs Mallorca

An insight into the ultimately failed efforts of Barcelona star João Félix to take responsibility of the club’s penalty opportunity against Mallorca has today been provided.

Barca, of course, played host to Mallorca on Friday night.

When all was said and done in Catalunya’s capital, Xavi’s troops did enough to emerge on the right side of a tight scoreline, owing to a solitary 2nd-half moment of brilliance on the part of youngster Lamine Yamal.

Prior to as much, midway through the first-half, however, Barcelona blew a clear-cut chance to afford themselves the lead.

As much came by way of a missed spot-kick.

İlkay Gündoğan was the man responsible for fluffing his lines, guilty of an uncharacteristically lax attempt at goal.

Prior to as much, though, as alluded to above, another of the Blaugrana’s most high-profile stars did his best to take the responsibility into his own hands.

The player in question? João Félix.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, ‘the Portuguese took the ball and approached the penalty spot’.

However, after being confronted by Gündoğan, a brief discussion between the pair saw Félix left with little choice but to bow to the seniority of his veteran teammate.

It remains to be seen whether the former’s miss has any impact on his ability to pull rank moving forward.
