An update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star João Cancelo has come to the fore on Wednesday afternoon.
This, of course, comes after Cancelo set alarm bells ringing across Catalunya’s capital this past weekend.
After being omitted from Barcelona’s matchday squad to travel to Madrid for a meeting with Atlético at the last minute, it was revealed post-match that the 29-year-old was dealing with a ‘serious personal problem’.
With both teammate Fermín López and manager Xavi having felt it necessary to dedicate the Blaugrana’s eventual victory to Cancelo, concern began to mount that an altogether significant matter was indeed being dealt with.
And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, an update on the situation has been provided.
Those of a Barcelona persuasion, though, need not fret.
This comes amid confirmation that Cancelo has been cleared to return to the pitch.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano, the on-loan Manchester City man recently discovered that a relative had been diagnosed with a heart problem.
Amid concerns that the issue may be a hereditary one, Cancelo was therefore requested to stay away from the pitch, until a clearer picture of the situation could be provided.
In a boost for player, club and country alike, though, as much has today been ruled out, with the Portuguese full-back having been informed that he can ‘regularly return to football activity’ as a result.
