Iago Aspas’ cousin trains with Celta Vigo first-team

Raúl Blanco, the cousin of Celta Vigo star Iago Aspas, was afforded a call-up to first-team training with the club on Friday.

The situation at Celta’s training base is something of an unusual one at present, with new head coach Claudio Giráldez having made use of the international break to afford some of his more high-profile stars a couple of days’ rest.

In turn, the Celestes’ brightest up-and-coming prospects have been afforded an opportunity, with one such player, as alluded to above, having today come in the form of Raúl Blanco.

Blanco, for his part, is a 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who is also capable of lining out on the wing, or even in a centre-forward role.

Since linking up with Celta back in 2020, the Spaniard spent time developing in the academy setup, and now plies his trade with Celta Fortuna, the club’s reserve outfit.

Most notable, though, is the fact that Blanco is a cousin of an iconic figure at Balaídos, in the form of Iago Aspas.

Joining the attacker under the watch of first-team boss Giráldez on Friday, meanwhile, as per Mundo Deportivo, were fellow Fortuna talents Manu Fernández, Fer López, Víctor San Bartolomé, Yoel Lago, Raúl Blanco, Joel López, César Fernández and Hugo Álvarez.
