An insight into the manner in which the plans of La Liga giants Barcelona could be influenced by the outcome of their upcoming meeting with Valencia has this week been forthcoming online.
Barca, of course, are set to kick the 2024/25 campaign into gear this coming weekend.
After a concerning close to the club’s pre-season schedule against Monaco on Monday, new boss Hansi Flick’s troops are primed to make the trip to Mestalla, for a tricky meeting with Valencia.
The Blaugrana coaching staff will be without a number of key performers for the matchup, with Flick’s options in midfield – owing to the absences of all of Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong and Fermín López – heavily limited.
And, should as much be laid bare en route to a disappointing result for Barcelona on Saturday night, it could yet spark the Catalans into life on the transfer market.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have revealed that sporting director Deco remains in favour of adding further steel to the club’s engine room.
Hansi Flick appears to be satisfied with the options at his disposal at present, but, with the likes of De Jong and Pedri continuing to fall short in efforts to maintain long-term fitness, fresh blood could yet be sought, particularly in the case of an underwhelming midfield showing at Mestalla.
