Hansi Flick’s Frenkie de Jong plans confirmed after first meeting between Barcelona pair

An insight into the plans of newly-appointed Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick for midfielder Frenkie de Jong has today been forthcoming.

As much comes after the pair exchanged pleasantries for the first time on Wednesday.

Flick, for his part, was officially unveiled as Barcelona’s new manager earlier today, putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

The German subsequently embarked on a tour of the club’s training facilities, during which the first player he encountered, according to Mundo Deportivo, was Frenkie de Jong.

De Jong remains in the midst of ongoing treatment for an ankle injury suffered against Real Madrid last month.

During his latest physiotherapy session on Wednesday, the Dutchman, in turn, was greeted by his new boss, with a friendly exchange between the pair having followed.

Flick was no doubt eager to make clear his trust in De Jong for next season, with MD adding that, despite long-standing transfer speculation:

‘For both Barça and Flick, De Jong is an untouchable player.’
