Northern Ireland national team head coach Michael O’Neill has revealed his admiration for Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal.
As much comes fresh off the youngster’s latest dazzling display on the international stage.
Lamine, for his part, was afforded a starting berth on Saturday night, as Spain played host to Northern Ireland in a warm-up fixture ahead of the European Championships.
When all was said and done, La Roja emerged on the right side of a 5-1 scoreline, with Barcelona midfielder Pedri on target to the tune of a brace.
It was another Blaugrana talent whose efforts were later recognised by way of the home crowd at San Moix, though.
Owing to a dazzling display down the right wing, culminating in a pair of assists, the aforementioned Lamine Yamal was afforded a standing ovation by the Spanish support.
As much has since been followed in turn by further praise from across the continent, on the part of players, fans, pundits and more.
And, as alluded to above, the messages of adulation for the 16-year-old have today been added to, by the man who watched on as his side were torn apart by Lamine on Saturday.
Drawn on the talents of the Barcelona prodigy post-match, Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill raved:
“It’s unbelievable what Lamine Yamal is doing at 16. He and Nico Williams will be global stars very soon.”
