No fewer than five members of the first-team setup at La Liga outfit Villarreal will be allowed to depart for free this summer.

That’s according to Marca, who have on Sunday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Castellón.

Having missed out on a place in European competition for next season, the Villarreal brass were left with some tough decisions to make when it comes to squad planning.

Five players whose contracts will come to a close at the end of the month, in turn, were this week informed that their time at the club is up.

The quintet in question? José Luis Morales, Étienne Capoue, Francis Coquelin, Alberto Moreno and Pepe Reina.

Morales, for his part, is expected to be imminently snapped up by former club Levante over the coming weeks.

Turning attentions towards those on expiring contracts who could yet remain at Villarreal, just one name is pushed my Marca, in the form of Raúl Albiol.

A final decision is yet to be made on the 38-year-old’s future, but it is confirmed that ‘he has a chance to continue’.
