Gerard Piqué ruled out of Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Dynamo Kyiv

Gerard Piqué was taken off injured in the 70th minute of Barcelona’s 1-1 home draw with Alavés on Saturday.

Barça lost Piqué to a calf strain in the second half at Camp Nou and the experienced centre-back has been ruled out of the club’s Champions League Group E tie with Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday.

The La Liga club issued a statement on Sunday. “Tests carried out this morning have shown that first team player Gerard Piqué has a calf strain in his right leg. He is out of the squad and his availability will depend on his progress.”

Ronald Araújo, Pedri, Sergi Roberto, Frenkie de Jong, Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembélé and Martin Braithwaite all missed the game on Saturday due to various fitness problems.
