Cardiac examination detects arrhythmia in Sergio Agüero

According to Argentinian journalist Vero Brunati in Sport, a cardiac examination has detected arrhythmia in Barcelona striker Sergio Agüero.

Agüero asked to be substituted before half-time in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Alavés. The striker quickly dropped to the ground with his hand on his ribcage and neck. Following the protocol in these cases, he was taken by ambulance to hospital. The Argentine underwent a cardiac examination due to chest discomfort and was diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia, i.e. a heart rhythm disorder.

Agüero will undergo further studies to continue analysing his state of health. According to Spanish newspaper El País, he suffered an arrhythmia approximately 10 days ago.

The veteran forward will remain under the watchful eye of medical professionals over the next few days and will be out for Tuesday’s Champions League match away to Dynamo Kyiv.
