Atlético Madrid drew 0-0 at home against Club Brugge in the fourth rounds of the Champions League group stages.
In his post-match interview that appeared on Marca, Diego Simeone praised the performance of his team despite the disappointing result:
“I am an optimist. Cunha is doing very well, Morata got into good situations in front of goal, Rodrigo got back into the team, Axel came in with character, Carrasco on the right was more electric. All those who started the match created what I like to see, a team that does not give the ball away and defends well.”
The Argentine coach believes that their objective is clear if they want to progress to the next stage of the competition:
“It got complicated and we are in a place where the only good thing is that we have a result. We have to win the two matches left, that is the only good possible outcome.”
“The numbers don’t lie, it is proving difficult for us to reach the round of 16. First we have to focus on Bilbao,” he added.
