João Félix considering leaving Atlético Madrid in January

João Félix is considering leaving Atlético Madrid in January, according to Cope.

The Portuguese forward was left on the bench during the club’s 0-0 draw with Club Brugge on Wednesday. It was the fourth game in a row that he started on the bench for Los Colchoneros.

As reported by Cope, he believes Simeone will remain on the bench next season and sees his situation as unsustainable.

Yannick Carrasco, Álvaro Morata, Rodrigo De Paul, Matheus Cunha and Axel Witsel all came on as Atlético looked for a goal at the Metropolitano against Brugge. Simeone sent a clear message to João Félix by leaving him on the bench for the entire game.

Atlético paid €127m for the 22-year-old from Benfica in 2019. So far in 2022-23, he has failed to score in 11 appearances in all competitions.

The Portugal international has a contract at the Metropolitano until 2026. In 588 minutes of football this season, Félix has provided three assists and scored no goals. It can only be frustrating for the player himself and Simeone, who has not seen the best from his side yet.

Why has Diego Simeone left out João Félix again?
