Carlo Ancelotti rules out a return to Chelsea

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Chelsea on Wednesday, Carlo Ancelotti discussed the rumours linking him to the job at Stamford Bridge.

“I’m a Chelsea fan. I spent some great years there. A return? No. I think Lampard is going to do a great job,” the Italian coach said in words reported by AS.

On Frank Lampard

“He is a fantastic professional. He knows very well what can happen in this kind of game and how to prepare his players for the game. He’s going to do well for as long as he stays at Chelsea.”

On facing Chelsea previously

“We had a tough time. They have a top team. They are not going through a good spell, but maybe that’s why the motivation right now can lead to them giving their best.”

On Fede Valverde

“He has extraordinary human qualities, we all know that. He’s fine, he’s been working as normal. Tomorrow he’s going to give his all, as always. I’d rather not talk about what happened.”

Is the Benzema-Vinícius pairing the best in the world?

“They are a great pairing, I can see it every day and you see it in every game. It’s no surprise how well they get on playing together. Karim is the leader in the dressing room and he leads youngsters like Vini.”
