Carlo Ancelotti: “Madrid will return, I have no doubt.”

Real Madrid suffered a 3-1 defeat against Barcelona in the Supercopa de España final.

In his post-match interview that appeared on AS, Carlo Ancelotti argued that making too many mistakes cost them the game:

“We gifted them the first two goals. These were two very costly mistakes. The mistakes we made at the start changed the game. We made some individual mistakes, a bad game for everyone. When we tried to recover, we were bad.”

The Italian coach admitted that Los Blancos are in bad form:

It’s true that the team’s form at the moment is not good. We have to hold on. This team has the quality to be competitive again. We are very hurt, Madrid usually wins the finals. But there’s still a lot of the season left and we’re going to play until the end. In sport sometimes you win and sometimes you get beaten.”

“We usually win finals. But we have all the resources to improve, to hold on. To have more of everything. Madrid will return, I have no doubt,” he added.

Real Madrid play Villarreal on Thursday in the Copa del Rey.
