Brazil confident of landing Pep Guardiola in 2023

Brazil manager Tite is likely to step down as coach of the national team after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Juninho Paulista, of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), has already hinted at the possibility in an interview with Marca: “Yes, he will probably leave after the World Cup”.

The CBF’s plans have taken shape since the arrival of Ednaldo Rodrigues in the chair of the CBF presidency at the end of March. Rodrigues wants to appoint Pep Guardiola in 2023 after Tite has stepped down, according to Marca.

The CBF have notified Pere Guardiola, Pep’s brother and agent, of their interest. The offer for Guardiola is for four years, until the 2026 World Cup. The proposed salary is around €12 million net, less than the €20 million he receives at Manchester City.

The Catalan coach signed a new contract with City in November 2020 until 2023.
