Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl on Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies: “I won’t give up.”

An update on the future of Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has been provided today by director of sport Max Eberl, amid recent reports suggesting the Canadian is on the verge of joining Real Madrid.

Major developments in the Davies to Madrid saga have taken place this week, with both parties close to agreeing terms. Although, it seems destined that the full-back will make the switch to the Spanish capital in the summer, the Bayern hierarchy believe they can still convince him to remain at the club.

The 23-year-old has been identified as a primary transfer target and talks are set to intensify after the Kylian Mbappé deal is finalised. Keen to reinforce the left-back options at his disposal, Carlo Ancelotti believes the full-back would have an immediate impact at the club and also develop into a world-class talent in the near future.

The Bavarians are understood to be seeking a fee in the region of €50m to allow the player to leave this summer, while Los Blancos were hoping an offer of €35m plus bonuses would be sufficient. Meanwhile, the sporting bosses at the Bundesliga champions remain hopeful that they can convince Davies to be part of their project and therefore reject any advances from the La Liga leaders.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Eberl insists he hasn’t spoken to Davies about a new deal yet, but hopes he can convince the player to remain at the club.

He said:” I haven’t spoken to Alphonso Davies about new deal yet.

“But I always have hope, the story is still open.

“I won’t give it up.”
