Barcelona’s ‘first signing’ of the summer revealed

An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona to reinforce the club’s backline with a view to next season has today been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards Barca as having already identified their ‘first signing’ for the summer ahead.

The player in question is already technically on the books of the Blaugrana, in the form of Julián Araujo.

Stopper Araujo has spent the season to date on loan at Las Palmas, where he has impressed en route to 20 La Liga appearances.

And as much has not gone unnoticed at his parent club, who remain on the lookout for fresh blood at right-back owing to the uncertain futures of both Sergi Roberto, and João Cancelo.

As a result, Deco and co. are ready to incorporate Araujo into the first-team setup back in Catalunya’s capital for the 2024/25 campaign.

On the other hand, fellow loanee Sergiño Dest is expected to be sold on a permanent basis, with the American’s valuation currently at its highest for some time, owing to a fine campaign in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven.
