Real Madrid return date: Barcelona handed Pedri boost amid fresh injury update

An altogether encouraging update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star Pedri has come to the fore this afternoon.

The name of midfielder Pedri, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya over the course of the last couple of days.

After being afforded a starting berth in Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Athletic Club on Sunday, Pedri lasted just 45 minutes, before succumbing to a muscular injury.

Spotted in tears on the Blaugrana bench at San Mamés, it has since been revealed that the 21-year-old has suffered a thigh injury, initially feared to be a relapse of a problem which kept him sidelined for two months early in the season.

Initial reports on the topic pointed towards Pedri, this time round, being set for a spell of between five and six weeks on the treatment table.

In turn, it came as nothing short of a hammer blow for the Barca faithful when, on Tuesday night, it was instead suggested that the youngster was unlikely to return to the pitch this season, with his participation at Euro 2024 with Spain thrown up in the air as a result.

As alluded to above, though, this afternoon, further clarification has been provided.

And the news will no doubt give rise to a collective sigh of relief on the part of Barcelona fans the world over.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, a fresh round of medical scans carried out on Wednesday have unveiled ‘good news’ regarding Pedri’s wellbeing.

The midfield starlet, it is claimed, has not suffered a relapse of his previous thigh injury.

Instead, his latest concern comes in the form of a small tear, in what has been labelled a ‘good area’ of the muscle group.

Pedri’s comeback plan therefore remains unchanged, amid the belief that the former Las Palmas talent will be ready to ‘safely’ feature against Real Madrid on April 21st, in the (likely) final Clásico of the term.
