Bayern Munich CEO and new director speak on the future of Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies

An update on the future of Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies has been provided today.

In recent days it has been reported that Madrid have reached a verbal agreement with Davies. Los Blancos have been monitoring the situation of the left-back in recent seasons and are huge admirers of the player.

After discussions between Davies’ camp and the Spanish giants, the player has agreed to join Real either on a free transfer in 2025 or in 2024. If the La Liga leaders want to bring in their first choice left-back options this summer then they would have to negotiate a transfer fee with the Bundesliga champions.

Despite this Bayern are determined to not lose the 23-year-old and are set to temp him with a new proposal. If the explosive full-back rejects their new contract offer then they will look to receive a fee for him this summer rather than letting him leave for free a year later.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and new director Max Eberl have reiterated their desire to not let Davies leave on a free and have confirmed that they are in talks with his agent.

Dreesen said: “We are in talks with his agent. We will see how complicated this will be, Max Eberl will be involved and we will see.”

Bayern appointed Eberl as their new sporting director just months after he was sacked as RB Leipzig’s managing director for sport. Eberl, who is a former Bayern player, has joined on a contract until June 2027.

Eberl added: “No club wants to lose players for free of course. We already had discussions with his agent, so I will now try to continue the conversation. I have to see how the situation is.”
