Barcelona’s final 4-man managerial shortlist confirmed

A fresh insight into the ongoing efforts of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona to source a new head coach has been provided this evening.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards the Barca brass as having whittled their shortlist of managerial targets down to four names.

The tacticians in question? Roberto De Zerbi, Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel.

As things stand, it is Brighton & Hove Albion headmaster De Zerbi who is considered the favourite, albeit with the Italian’s considerable release clause representing a major obstacle.

For any move for the former Shakhtar Donetsk boss to come to fruition, he would therefore be required to negotiate a mutual parting of ways with the board on England’s south coast.

Beyond De Zerbi, the German trio of Flick, Nagelsmann and Tuchel have split opinion behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital, with all three viewed as boasting pros and cons alike.

Whatever the case, Sport suggest that ‘the final decision should not take more than a month and will be made by Deco together with the Blaugrana president, Joan Laporta’.
