Barcelona vs Real Madrid: Rodri makes his final decision

Manchester City star Rodri has made a definitive call on his future with a view to the 2026/27 campaign. This comes amid confirmation that Barcelona have beaten out arch rivals Real Madrid to a deal for the 30-year-old.

Midfielder Rodri has of course been heavily linked with a move back to his home country of Spain throughout the summer to date.

Ahead of the expiration of his contract terms in Manchester in 12 months’ time, the aforementioned Real Madrid set their sights firmly on a deal for the Ballon d’Or winner, considered the missing piece from José Mourinho’s engine room puzzle.

Recent days, however, saw murmurs begin to spread that, whilst the Bernabéu brass focused their attention on closing a deal for Yan Diomandé, Barcelona had joined the Rodri sweepstakes.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday, the worst fears of all of a Real Madrid persuasion have been confirmed…

As per a report from Blancos insider Jose Felix Diaz, writing for Diario AS:

‘Rodrigo Hernández has definitively opted for a move to Barcelona and has officially informed Real Madrid’s management.’
