Barcelona could miss out on the signing of a leading transfer target this summer, owing to the interest of another of La Liga’s biggest clubs.
This comes amid the understanding that Bernardo Silva is prioritising a move to Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid, over the Blaugrana.
Midfielder Bernardo has of course been hotly tipped to take his talents to the Camp Nou over the months ahead. After the Portuguese made the call not to renew his expiring contract terms with Manchester City, the Spanish champions were quickly labelled the frontrunners for his signature.
Barca, though, failed to seal an agreement with Bernardo’s entourage prior to the World Cup being kicked into gear.
With the former Monaco man only ready to focus on his club future once the tournament has been brought to a close, rival suitors have in turn been allowed back into the fray.
And as alluded to above, this development could yet culminate in Bernardo landing at another of Spanish football’s heavyweights.
As per a report from SER:
‘The former Manchester City player prioritises Atlético Madrid over Barcelona. The Portuguese international believes he would have a more significant role under Diego Simeone and could even play a similar position to Antoine Griezmann in recent years.’
The brass at the Metropolitano are therefore readying a proposal of their own…
