Barcelona to target Bernardo Silva in 2023

Barcelona have identified Bernardo Silva as their number one transfer target for 2023, report Mundo Deportivo.

The 28-year-old was already on the Bluagrana’s radar in the summer of 2022, but no deal materialised due to Barcelona’s financial constraints.

Xavi is looking for a mature midfielder who is a good finisher, as well as someone who has the ability to understand positional play and give more consistency to the team.

Before submitting a formal offer to Manchester City, Barça will have to sell an important player and continue reducing their wage bill.

Sergio Busquets’ and Jordi Alba’s contracts are expiring at the end of the season and there appears to be no signs of talks taking place over a possible renewal.

Gerard Piqué would have to play in 35% of the games he is available for this season in order to see his contract be extended by one more year. However, he has only made one appearance so far for Barcelona this season.

All signs are pointing in the direction that Barcelona will be within La Liga’s financial regulations to pull off a deal for Bernardo Silva.
