Karim Benzema suffered a knee injury during Real Madrid’s match against Celtics in the Champions League. The Frenchman was forced to be sidelined and missed out on France’s international fixtures in the Nations League.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the 34-year-old used the international break as an opportunity to recover and strengthen his knee at Real Madrid’s training centre in Valdebebas.
Even though Los Blancos didn’t necessarily miss Benzema’s presence during their recent games, Carlo Ancelotti believes that he is still a very important member of the team.
The Italian coach wants the Frenchman to be fit and available for the final stretch of the season before the World Cup, during which Real Madrid will want to secure qualification for the Champions League knock-out stage and will also face Barcelona in El Clásico.
Benzema is receiving treatment on his knee and is carrying out individual training sessions. He is expected to join the rest of the team later this week and he should be available for Real Madrid’s match against Osasuna on the 2nd of October.
