Barcelona to relocate to Montjuïc

Barcelona are planning to move to the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc next season, report Mundo Deportivo.

The Nou Camp is currently undergoing renovation, however, some of it cannot be carried out while the stadium is still in use.

Therefore the Blaugrana will finish the current season in May 2023 and move to the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc for the 2023-24 season. They are expected to play there until at least October 2024, meaning works will spill into the 2024-25 season as well.

The club have to invest €15m-20m to adapt the Olympic Stadium for it to be suitable to host Barça. With the loss of income from the museum and the shop, the Barcelona board predict that the club will lose out on up to €100m with the relocation.

The Olympic Stadium has a capacity of just over 56,000, meaning they will have a reduced income from ticket sales too.
