Barcelona summer signing Anthony Gordon has this week admitted that he makes a point of watching every one of arch rivals Real Madrid’s fixtures. This comes for a pair of reasons.
Winger Gordon is for his part of course still settling into life in his new surroundings in Spain, having swapped Newcastle United for Barcelona over the summer.
The 25-year-old has slotted into his new club’s attacking setup with relative ease, already boasting four goal contributions in six La Liga appearances.
Such exploits have proven significant in Barcelona romping to the top of the table, with a flawless record of seven wins from seven.
José Mourinho’s Real Madrid, on the other hand, after a host of summer additions of their own, have already slipped six points off the pace of the Blaugrana. And watching on all the while, as alluded to above, has been Gordon himself…
Speaking during an exchange with the media after linking up with the England national team this week, Barca’s explosive wide-man revealed that he watches Real Madrid’s matches for two reasons: to follow the progress of compatriot Jude Bellingham, and in the hopes of witnessing a Blancos defeat:
“I watch every one of Jude’s games now, hoping they lose (laughs). But he has had a tremendous start to the season, he started really well.”
