Barcelona star hits back at critics after World Cup final

Barcelona star Ferran Torres has sent a defiant message the way of his critics, following his match-winning performance in the World Cup final.

Frontman Ferran is of course fresh off an evening to remember on the international stage on Sunday.

Introduced off the bench in Spain’s World Cup showpiece meeting with Argentina, the former Manchester City man went on to prove himself the star of the show.

After Nico Williams’ cushioned header found Ferran in space in the Argentine penalty area, the 26-year-old made no mistake in directing a fine left-footed finish into the roof of the net.

This marked a milestone moment in the career of a player who is often singled out by fans and the media alike as not good enough for the very top level of the game.

Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle in New York, Ferran therefore made use of the opportunity to hit back at those to have condemned him in the past:

“I got criticised many times but destiny gives beautiful things to those who deserve it. It’s not my goal; it’s from 47 million Spanish fans.”
