Barcelona monitor N’Golo Kanté’s situation at Chelsea

Barcelona are keeping a close eye on how N’Golo Kanté’s future at Chelsea will develop, report Mundo Deportivo.

Club captain Sergio Busquets, who has been an essential piece in Barcelona’s midfield since he made his debut for the club in 2008, is set to leave the Nou Camp in the summer as he does not want to extend his stay at the side where he started his professional footballing career.

The Blaugrana are considering alternative options who could fill Busquets’ shoes. Due to their poor financial standing, they are eyeing players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season so that they could sign them next year without having to pay a transfer fee.

Earlier in December it was communicated that they are weighing up the option of making a move for İlkay Gündoğan and Youli Tielemans if they choose not to extend their deals with their respective clubs.

Kanté, whose contract is expiring with Chelsea in June 2023, also entered the picture for Barcelona. However, they would be battling for the player’s signature with PSG, who are also keen to secure the services of the 31-year-old.
