Barcelona Femení set another world record

There were 91,648 at Camp Nou this evening for Barcelona Femení vs Wolfsburg, breaking the world record for a women’s football game.

Barcelona beat Wolfsburg 5-1 on the night in the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final first leg match.

Goals from Aitana Bonmatí, Caroline Graham Hansen, Jenni Hermoso and a brace from captain Alexia Putellas give Barcelona a great advantage going into the second leg.

Barça Femení had recently broken the attendance record for a women’s game in their Champions League second leg against Real Madrid at Camp Nou, but tonight’s attendance went one step further to set a new record.

The 91,648 spectators surpassed the 91,553 who turned out to see the win over Madrid last month. Previously, the record for a women’s game was 90,185 when the United States played China in the 1999 Women’s World Cup final at the Rose Bowl in California.
