The best Real Madrid team in five years

Real Madrid are very close to lifting what would be their 35th La Liga title.

With five games remaining in the season, Madrid only need four points to be crowned champions.

According to a report produced by Marca, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are the best Real Madrid team since the 2016/17 campaign, when they had 78 points on matchday 33 but were only six points clear of second-placed Barcelona. The title ended up going to Los Blancos that season.

Madrid are currently on 78 points after 33 games and have 24 wins this season, six more than closest challengers Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. The league leaders have 15 more points than Barcelona in second, who have a game in hand.

Madrid are the top scorers in the league with 69 goals, eight more than Barcelona and 10 more than Atlético.

Sevilla have only conceded 27 goals, two less than Thibaut Courtois.

The league’s top scorer is Karim Benzema with 25 goals. He is also the top assisting player with 11 assists to his name.

Enes Ünal and Raúl de Tomás are joint-second top scorers in the scoring charts with 15 goals each. Vinicius has 14 in the league this season.
