Barcelona fans fume as Spain’s summer plans for Pau Cubarsí revealed

Supporters of Barcelona have flooded to social media on Sunday, to reveal their disillusionment with the Spanish Football Federation.

This comes amid rumours surrounding a potentially hectic upcoming summer for youngster Pau Cubarsí.

Stopper Cubarsí, for his part, has of course enjoyed a breakout campaign in Catalunya’s capital.

Since being afforded a chance to impress owing to a personnel crisis at the heart of boss Xavi’s backline following the turn of the year, the Spaniard has not looked back, establishing himself as a pivotal member of Barcelona’s defensive ranks.

All of this comes despite Cubarsí, remarkably, still being just 17 years of age.

Now considered a central piece in the plans of the Blaugrana for the short and long-term alike, it has in turn come as a source of concern for the Barcelona faithful to hear that their defensive prodigy may not be afforded the chance to rest up over the summer.

As per a report from Diario Sport, the Spanish Football Federation are giving serious consideration to calling up Cubarsí for both the upcoming European Championships, and Olympic games:

‘The Federation does not rule out that he will go to the Eurocup this summer in Germany and to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games if he continues with this enormous progression in the coming months,’ it is confirmed.

And, safe to say, news of as much has since gone down predictably poorly amongst fans of his club.

Still smarting from the long-term effects of the overuse of midfield starlets Pedri and Gavi at international level, Barcelona’s supporters have taken to social media on Sunday, to make crystal clear their feelings regarding the rumours of Cubarsí’s potential double call-up:
