Barcelona dealt late Sergi Roberto blow ahead of Villarreal clash

Barcelona have on Friday been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.

This, of course, comes amid ongoing preparations for the club’s return to action on Saturday evening.

After being sent packing from the Copa del Rey in midweek at the hands of Athletic Club, Barca will turn their attentions back towards matters in La Liga, in a home meeting with Villarreal.

A full eight points off the pace of table-topping Girona in Spain’s top-flight, the clash marks something of a must-win for Xavi’s troops.

As alluded to above, though, such efforts on the part of the Blaugrana to bounce back to winning ways will come sans the services of a high-profile member of the club’s first-team squad.

This comes amid confirmation that Sergi Roberto has picked up an injury.

As per a report from Diario Sport, versatile midfielder Roberto suffered a muscular problem whilst training earlier today.

He is, as a result, in line for a spell of around two weeks on the sidelines.
