An insight into one of the personnel decisions facing incoming Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick with a view to next season has today been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Marca, and reveals that the German will be forced to make a direct call between two members of his defensive ranks.
The players in question? Íñigo Martínez, and Eric García.
Something of an overbooking has all of a sudden developed at the heart of defence in Catalunya’s capital heading into the summer.
As much comes with all of Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen, Pau Cubarsí, Jules Koundé, Mika Faye, Clément Lenglet and aforementioned pair Íñigo and Eric currently on the books of the Blaugrana.
Safe to say, then, that sales will be required over the months ahead.
And, as per the aforementioned Marca, new Barcelona headmaster Hansi Flick will be asked, based on pre-season performance, ‘to choose between Eric and Íñigo’.
It now remains to be seen just who does enough to secure for themselves a place in the defensive ranks at the Camp Nou for 2024/25.
