As broken by Matteo Morretto at Relevo, Atlético Madrid have rejected Chelsea’s bid to sign Marcos Llorente.
With N’Golo Kanté sidelined for a considerable period due to injury, Chelsea have been in the market to strengthen their midfield. It is believed that the Premier League club submitted a bid worth €60 million. Atléti are not willing to part ways with Llorente on the cheap and have hinted to The Blues that they would only consider offers closer to the player’s €120 million release clause.
Morretto also reported that the 27-year-old rejected the offer and is not keen on moving to Chelsea.
Earlier this month Chelsea were also discussing the signing of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona. It appears as though they have been put off by the Dutchman’s €80 million price tag and were looking for a cheaper alternative.
With Atlético Madrid rejecting Chelsea’s bid, they may need to look elsewhere to fill the void left by Kanté.
