Kieran Trippier will join Newcastle United after a fee, reportedly an initial £12 million with add-ons, was agreed with Atlético Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Negotiations between both clubs have been ongoing since December, with Atlético agreeing to sell the right-back when it became clear that Trippier wanted to return to England. Trippier is expected to undergo a medical at St James’ Park in the next 48 hours before officially joining the Magpies.
The England international, 31, won the Spanish title with the Madrid-based club last season. Atlético sporting director Andrea Berta has reportedly started his search to find a replacement for the defender.
