Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone gave his thoughts on Kieran Trippier’s time at the club.
“I’m absolutely grateful for the time Kieran has been here with us. The club gave him 48 hours to resolve the situation. He’s behaved very well and been very important for us.”
Trippier travelled to Newcastle on Wednesday morning to complete his move to the Magpies. Simeone admitted that Atlético will look to bring in a replacement for the England international.
“We look ahead to what is next and seek out alternatives. The club knows exactly what we need and are after.
