Atlético Madrid have announced that the No. 7 shirt has been given back to Antoine Griezmann. The French forward receives his old number from fellow forward João Félix, whose days at the club look to be numbered.
Griezmann wore the shirt at Atlético for five years, during his first spell at the club, and when he left in 2019, the Portuguese forward arrived to take his place and also his No. 7 shirt.
In his second spell at Atlético, Griezmann was handed the number 8, which was vacated with the departure of Spanish midfielder Saúl. After two seasons with the number, he has managed to regain his favourite number, the one he also wears with the France national team.
AS report that João Félix’s future remains up in the air. The player left the Metropolitano for Chelsea in January, although the loan spell in London did not work out as expected. He has been linked with a move to PSG this summer.
