Arda Güler on joining Real Madrid, conversations with Carlo Ancelotti, his position and more

Arda Güler has spoken for the first time as a Real Madrid player.

“I’ve been told that I’m going to play and that’s it. Going out on loan is not in my plans”, the Turkish midfielder said on Friday in a press conference covered by Marca.

The new No. 24 at Madrid spoke honestly and made it clear that his intention is to become a legend at Real Madrid and that at no point in the negotiations was the possibility of a loan in the first year valued. “There have been many clubs that have shown interest and we had contact with some, but when Real Madrid came in and told me that I would be able to play, the rest of the offers lost value. This is the best club in the world and they didn’t need to tell me anything else to convince me,” he said.

Talking to Ancelotti

Güler also confirmed that he has had several conversations with Carlo Ancelotti to discuss his position at the club and how he can fit into a squad with plenty of midfielders: “The coach called me and told me that he wanted to see me live. He told me where he was going to play me; there have been a lot of conversations”.

“There are a lot of good players. I am ready to compete and I will earn my place in the team. I will give everything to earn my place at the club. I want to stay and play here. If they give me opportunities to play I will take them. I’ve been offered the chance to play and I’m going to take it.”
