New Real Madrid signing Arda Güler is a short (1.76m), skillful player, who plays primarily as an attacking midfielder. He is quick and has an eye for goal. In 2022-23, he was involved in a goal every 120 minutes.
The big question now is: will the 18-year-old have a place in the Real Madrid team in 2023-24 if there are already seven midfielders in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad? It may prove difficult this season and even the season after but perhaps not in the medium to long term.
AS report that Ancelotti is considering trying him out in pre-season as part of the forward line at the Bernabéu, where right now there are only the options of Vinícius, Rodrygo, Brahim and Joselu. He can also play on the right of the front three but could also find himself sent out on a season-long loan.
Who is Arda Güler?
Güler came through the Gençlerbirliği academy, a club from Ankara that finished 15th in the top flight last season. He was in their academy until the age of 14, when Fenerbahçe signed him.
He played in the club’s reserve team at the age of 15, where he dazzled for a season, and in 2021, at the age of 16 and after just six months, he made the leap to the first team.
Going from strength to strength over the last two seasons, Güler ended up wearing the No. 10 shirt, playing 51 games.
Madrid have signed him until 2029 and the Turkish teenager will be officially presented tomorrow (Friday).
