Spain and Barcelona player Alexia Putellas will undergo surgery on Tuesday.
Putellas has been ruled out of the European Championships due to an ACL injury suffered last week.
According to Relevo, the player will be operated on Tuesday 12 July at around 11 am by Dr Monllau. The surgery will be supervised by Dr Yanguas at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona.
Alexia will be operated on the same day that Spain face their second match of this competition, against Germany at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Spain’s star player will not be able to be at her team-mates’ game as a result. In the first game in Milton Keynes, the captain was able to cheer on her team-mates during the 4-1 win against Finland in their Euro 2022 opener.
